In a bold move, Michael Saylor, the founder of Strategy, has indicated that his firm might have seized the chance to acquire more Bitcoin after a significant weekend dip. Strategy's early Bitcoin investments, coupled with Bitcoin's price surge, have largely kept the company in the green over the past five years. However, the recent drop from $87,970 to $75,892 temporarily pushed Bitcoin below Strategy's cost basis of $76,040, before a rebound to $76,765.
The crash was triggered by US President Donald Trump's nomination of Kevin Warsh to replace Jerome Powell as the Federal Reserve's chair. Warsh, despite his positive views on Bitcoin, is perceived as a hawkish choice, advocating for fiscal discipline, lower inflation, and an end to quantitative easing.
This news sent shockwaves through the markets, with gold and silver dropping significantly, and the Standard and Poor's 500 index falling by 0.43%. Crypto market sentiment hit a six-week low, with former Binance CEO Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao expressing less confidence in the "Bitcoin supercycle" he predicted last month.
